Drones in construction

Drone service for construction/ BIM

The best way to see progress on a construction site is from a bird's eye view. UAV recording is ideal for this. The abbreviation stands for "unmanned aerial vehicle" and means translated: aircraft without crew. And these aircraft are defined by drones, which can be used for surveying and documentation on a construction site.

What are the advantages of drone services in the construction industry?

In contrast to ground recordings, drones have decisive advantages, especially in urban areas: They can also climb when the area is densely built-up in order to provide a detailed overall picture. This option can only be implemented to a limited extent from the ground. The same applies to cranes that are used to help. The use of these construction site helpers is also associated with high costs and is not economical, especially on smaller construction sites. Especially since cranes also require a corresponding space for their use. In road construction, building construction and civil engineering, drones enable a quick and detailed overview to find out the current status of the construction site without affecting traffic.

Carry out the structural inspection using a drone

Another argument for inspections using drones in the construction industry is defined by the inspection of existing structures such as bridges. These are stressed daily and are subject to the natural aging process. Damage caused by this can be optimally found out with UAV recordings.

This concerns, for example:

-deformations

-Corrosion

-cracks etc

This is the only way to permanently guarantee the security of the object in use. The drone service also clearly shows its advantages when it comes to inspecting buildings that are difficult to access.

This concerns in particular:

-Industrial chimneys

-Bridges

-power plants

-High-rise buildings

- Dams, dams & reservoirs

-Track systems & track construction

The drone can be launched from a safe location to fly regardless of the terrain. In addition, the drone works much faster than an inspector on the scaffolding. It flies over the buildings and the terrain and is used to photograph the entire construction site. And that bit by bit: until a detailed overall picture emerges and the construction site status has been optimally recorded. The exact location of any possible damage can be recorded. This is made possible by GPS and other sensors that the drones are equipped with. This not only increases quality and efficiency, but also reduces costs at the same time.

A lot of time can also be saved in the context of measurements that are to be carried out using drones. The larger the area to be surveyed in construction, the more efficient drone surveying is in contrast to conventional surveying techniques, which are carried out with a GPS rover and / or a total station. A fundamentally different approach can be implemented here with drone surveying. In contrast to a drone, you can only make progress at walking pace with conventional surveying techniques. Expressed in figures, this means a maximum of six kilometers per hour. The drone survey is much faster because the desired UAV images can be captured at a speed of 30 kilometers per hour. If it is then still an impassable subsoil

Is the drone service on a construction site expensive?

The costs are in a moderate range. The manageable prices allow the repeated use of drones on construction sites. This means that documentation can be done on a regular basis to record the construction process in more detail this way. Construction site documentation using drones has proven to be significantly more efficient than conventional methods. These usually include ground-based records. When it comes to aerial photographs, these are often implemented by helicopter. Of course, this has its price. Above all, documentation by helicopter is associated with high costs and is therefore almost exclusively observed on large construction sites.

Regular inspections of bridge structures are critical to properly schedule maintenance and ensure public safety for aging bridges. With our drones, we can not only significantly reduce inspection times, but also significantly increase occupational safety.
